We are all aware that FFXI is a very old game and the graphics can be a bit, hmm shall I say primitive! This little tut is to try and get the best we can out of the client.
This will involve using the registry editor (regedit)
Okay, first Open Regedit (windows key and R and type regedit) and go to the following
For 64 bit operating system
For 32 bit operating system
These are what the various values mean ..
0000 MIP mapping
0001 Screen resolution width in pixels
0002 Screen resolution height in pixels
0003 Background resolution width in pixels
0004 Background resolution height in pixels
0007 Music and Sound effects (0=Off, 1=On)
0011 Environmental Animation (0=Off, 1=Normal, 2=Smooth)
0017 Bump Mapping (0=Off, 1=On)
0018 Texture Compression (0=High, 1=Low, 2=Uncompressed)
0019 On-Screen Maps (0=Compressed, 1=Uncompressed)
0022 Intro Movie (0=Disabled, 1=Enabled)
0034 Window Mode (0=Full Screen, 1=Window Mode, 3=Borderless Window Mode)
0035 (Sound) Always On (0=Off, 1=On) Specifies if game sound will play when program window is not in focus (alt-tabbed).
0036 Fonts (0=Compressed, 1=Uncompressed, 2=High Quality)
0037 Menu resolution width (0=defaults to registry value 0001)
0038 Menu resolution height (0=defaults to registry value 0002)
Screen Resolutions you need to put into value 001 and 002
(ie. if you use 1920 x 1080 it will appear like this 001=780(1920), 002=438(1080)).
Enter the amount shown in brackets using the decimal button.
Background Resolutions you need to put into value 003 and 004
(again if you use 1920 x 1080 it will appear like this 003=780(1920), 004=438(1080)).
For best results use double your Resolution (oversampling)
For 1600 x 1200 Use 3200 x 2400
For 1920 x 1200 Use 3840 x 2400
For 1920 x 1080 Use 3840 x 2160
0018 Texture compression should always be set to 2 (uncompressed)
Using Ashita3 with the drawdistance plugin, type /drawdistance setworld 20 or add it in Default.txt
If you haven't already got them the HD pack is a nice addition
